i'm also thinking possibly /su/ -> /sju/ -> /ʃu/, because english has a tendency to palatalize consonants before /u/ (see common pronunciation of new as /njuː/ or few as /fjuː/, for instance), and then /sj/ is often further palatalized to /ʃ/.

@anthracite @Austin_Dern @KinkyTurtle Imagine if someone commissioned you to draw a scene in a library and gave you a list of books they wanted visible on the shelves. Like, listing off every single book, wanting the title and recognisable logos or symbols on the spine drawn.

I don't know why I brought this up, I just read that and thought, "wow, it'd be really awful if someone did this, but also hilarious that they'd try".
