@eldaking Silicone can handle pretty high temperatures, but I'm pretty sure a thousand degrees is too much even for it.

I'm a little surprised about that last bit though! Most of the thermal ceramics used are either aluminum nitride or beryllium oxide (sometimes also aluminum oxide because it's cheaper and nontoxic but it's nowhere near as good), which are the top two thermal conductivities known in ceramic materials

I didn't say in the initial post because it might be a minor spoiler

@dodec Ys IX.
-F

@eldaking Now I'm curious what the material is, as someone who works with electronics and is currently focused on thermal issues!
-F

@DarkOverord they made ōkami work, but that was originally analog stick controls

still, may be possible to have it kind of do the ōkami thing
-F

@DarkOverord considering they remade pmd it's not entirely out of the question

no clue how they'd do it in docked mode though
-F

@NumberOneBug@yiff.life not even venerate, like, early school the romans were taught as like... these Super Refined People who did all this Philosophy and Culture and nonsense

when really they're just. people
-F

@DarkOverord too bad, they haven't made pokemon ranger remakes yet

re: OC, fredrika thoughts

@heatherhorns fredrika is banned from Websites. not any specific website just the general concept of websites
-F

@NumberOneBug@yiff.life learning about that whole fiasco was probably our first step towards thinking of the ancient romans not as the Immaculate Foundation of Civilization™ that people taught them as being but as people who sometimes made pretty bad choices and weren't very good people

well, maybe not the first step but a big one. the first one might have been learning that the entire Aeneid was commissioned to be propaganda to make augustus look good
-F

@NumberOneBug@yiff.life just imagine how *that* must have felt

(and then they were pretty thoroughly beaten back by the locals and forced to cross the channel *again*, then go around rounding up the soldiers who'd been blown off course in the initial crossing and said "fuck it, i'm not doing that again" and just set up shop in some town along the coast)
-F

@NumberOneBug@yiff.life i think our favorite story of the romans being really terrible at conquering things is probably Julius Caesar's first attempt to invade britain

just, having a horrible time of it with boats (turns out the english channel is much rougher waters than the mediterranean, and the romans weren't exactly outstanding seafarers in the mediterranean), probably taking days just to cross the english channel, they get to land and then suddenly, white cliffs of dover
-F

@NumberOneBug@yiff.life that is a very Rome thing to do though

re: Logan's current form

@The1AndMany sounds very cute! mustelids are always lovely.

@thr33h3ad3ddragon is..... this about something that's going on, or am i missing a joke?
-F

if there isn't some kind of computer company based in mexico called aztech: why not
-F

@artemis@vulpine.club @LexYeen I feel like it's unlikely we'll ever end up with one considering our needs include things like "has both composite and component input, and s-video is a plus"
-F

@artemis@vulpine.club @LexYeen with how standard multi-core processors are these days it probably doesn't cost any different between a faster-clocked single core ARM and a slower-clocked quad-core ARM that gives the same performance

a lot of software is written assuming multi-core processors these days too
