hmm. good morning. it's a morning, at least.

went to the doctor because we were feeling sick, and got diagnosed with "acute viral upper respiratory infection"--in other words, a cold. Good to know it's nothing serious, I guess.

just a heads up that rose and I both have no intention of doing any sort of pranks or jokes for april fools day

we just learned that apparently sushi burritos are a thing

HDMI cables can certainly carry a lot of data. I wonder how common it is for people to use them as high-speed data links, because they're such a commodity compared to other controlled-impedance cables

social media meta, chain letter tactics

Any post which declares that "if you don't share this then you are bad" is (a) false and (b) manipulative and (c) too harmful to be a worthwhile joke. This stuff induces anxiety in people and it doesn't change the fact that sometimes people need time off, sometimes accounts are for other purposes, and sometimes the particular contents of that post are harmful.

Never write this kind of guilt-trip in your posts.

Never share posts that contain one.

If you want to share info from a post with one, repost the info by itself or post a link to the guilt-trip post with a content warning for guilt-tripping.

i just realized:

1-3: windows 1, 2, and 3 (3.1 and 3.11 counted as part of 3 here)
4: windows 95
5: windows 98
6: windows ME/2000
7: windows XP
8: windows vista
9: windows 7?????

7???

you ever just want to not have a throat? because ours hurts enough right now that yeah I'd like that

apparently a good way to feel less crap when sick is to go eat a chimichanga.

thought: a ninja whose high evasion stat gets in the way a lot

sitting down for dinner except you evade the chair and land on the floor, ouch

getting into bed for the night and then you evade the mattress and somehow end up underneath it

pushing buttons for the elevator but you evade the buttons you're going for and hit the wrong ones instead

here's the cross section of a diode! it's a 1N4007. you can see the piece of silicon in the middle. the lumps on the wires help hold them in the plastic case.

ghhh

feeling too sick and awful to go anywhere but we need toilet paper, there is none left in the apartment, and I don't know what to do x.x

games, fantasy politics, -

One of the sidequests in Bravely Second left a bad taste in my mouth :x

The major sidequests all present you with a deep problem and ask an ideological question of the player. Most of them are just kind of silly, but this one presents a nation crippled by excessive taxes to the point that basic necessities are absurdly expensive and gives you the option between either: completely eliminate taxes entirely and get rid of welfare completely, or keep things how they are now

both of these are terrible options and it's giving you a false dichotomy, like you can't cut taxes to a reasonable level while still keeping the welfare that's keeping people alive

You'd think a game made as recently as this would address such topics in a nuanced manner, but...

ever have one of those days where you don't do all that much but still feel exhausted afterward? that was our today.

As April fool's is around the corner, consider what kind of jokes and tricks you pull.

If it is actually funny, or just making fun of people for being naive or different?

Be considerate of the people around you.
