RCA's bankruptcy is really kinda tragic

the company that pioneered television and later color television too, the namesake of the common RCA plugs used for AV... and they went bankrupt because they refused to accept that the CED wasn't going to work

development of the CED technology took decades longer than anticipated and by the time it came out, laserdiscs were already available with much higher quality, not to mention video tapes

they really should have cut their losses on that one

Why did CRTs always seem to use magnetic deflection, anyway? One would think electric deflection would be a bit easier, but perhaps not.

also video out over USB would be nice since it's already doing all the work a capture device would need to do anyway

you know what would be a nice feature for a tv to have

like eight hdmi inputs, five component/composite combo inputs, and two or three s-video inputs, and maybe even an antenna input, all switchable with the remote

why do tvs always seem to have just the one or two hdmi inputs and if you're lucky also a composite video input

what if I *want* to have an SNES, a wii, a PS2, a PS3, a wii U, an xbox 360, a nintendo switch, an atari 2600, and a PC all plugged into the TV with room for more

random thought: making a poll to ask what people think is the best citrus fruit, but putting the options as "mandarin", "pomelo", and "citron"

then after the poll finishes and the results are tallied begin a lengthy period of hybridization to produce a plant that has that ratio of ancestry, since citrus is ridiculous and hybridizes with basically zero effort

Visited our cousin last night (she took us out to a nice restaurant for our birthday!) and got to meet her cats and holy crap being able to play with cats for a bit is just... *so* good. It's been too long.
