seriously if anyone can answer these questions *please do*

what can possibly cause download speeds to suddenly drop to a tiny fraction of their normal speed and even tinier fraction of what they're supposed to be, while keeping upload speeds the same

even stranger why is it still giving us 5 megabit upload speeds
-F

Show thread

why is it suddenly giving us 1-2 megabits

it was supposed to be *fixed* today and then that didn't happen and now it's broken worse for who knows why

"writing bad AIs" sounds like a fascinating topic for a video or a ted talk or something

Show thread

i guess maybe you can just write a perfect AI and give it a varying chance of making either the perfect move or a random move though

unless you're writing the AI for chess or something where the perfect move is not practical to calculate like at *all*

Show thread

i imagine writing an AI with difficulty levels for a simple strategy game like connect four must be difficult, because you have to specifically make sure it makes bad moves sometimes

also ping @starkatt because I think she'd appreciate knowing this, and maybe also @Kyresti

so we used to hate having to deal with lead-free solder but then

then

we discovered the joys of germanium-doped solder, also called SN100C

still a higher melting point than 63/37, at 227°C (compared to 183°C), but it flows and wets copper pretty much just as easily at 63/37, it's cheaper by far than silver solder, and joints are just as clean and shiny as 63/37, and it's truly eutectic

the alloy to look for is Sn₉₉.₃Cu₀.₇Ni₀.₀₅Ge₀.₀₀₉
