the term "brushless dc motor" really bugs us

it's a permanent magnet synchronous motor and runs on AC, it is in no way a DC motor

it's not like, significantly *worse* than JBC but there are things that are just annoying about it

like instead of doing what JBC does and sensing when you put down the iron with a magnet and a reed switch, it's an accelerometer and a timer, a much less elegant solution

it feels like Weller doesn't really have anything to offer with their soldering equipment other than being cheaper than JBC

kinda regretting going with a Weller when we were asked to spec some nicer soldering equipment than a hakko fx-888d for the lab
