I hope no man's sky goes on sale again soon, I want to play it now that we have a computer that actually can.

the Hearth :ms_agender_flag: boosted

well it seems like we've managed to make it sound good enough using the DPCM channel... now to work on making that flute sound more like a flute

what was it exactly that led to so much good and _long_ music being composed for commodore 64 games?

nsfw nonsense

non-system dick or dick error. Remove dick and press any key to reboot

with the recent user migration I have ended up following like five people I want to get to know but I have no idea how to properly do the whole people thing

so is @Galuade what you get when you mix Galu, sugar, and water?

thought: character creator screen with a bunch of sliders, labelled with things that are normally pretty discrete like "species", "number of eyes", "language", as well as things that just don't make any sense as character traits at all, like "duration", "material", "rpm" (all ranging from 0 to 32000 in increments of 0.125)

it is only a single note that we need so I tried to do it with dpcm but it can't be loud enough

it's a long shot but does anyone have some experience getting bells to sound right in famitracker without using vrc7

Show thread

status update: now considering opening MATLAB to run some code to generate a sequence of 64- or 32-sample 163 waveforms that closely approximates the bell sound

Show thread

still the 163 is very... detailed, to the point that I find myself opening up reference audio in audacity to try to make a 1:1 copy of the waveform

Show thread

the Namco 163 is looking promising, after a failure to make anything work with the VRC6 and a complete lack of understanding of the 5B

Show thread

status: trying and failing to get a good semblance of a tubular bell in some Famicom sound chip other than the VRC7
