lewd thoughts

Thinking about huge balls -w- big enough to make doors inconvenient.

Rosemary has a habit of having weird thoughts before bed and writing them down on our phone's notepad thing for me to see next time I check it. This one was "Do grocers groce?"

sometime we should really make an effort to learn to read hangeul. it's a beautifully simple writing system.

Just learned that there's a theory (which is about as well supported as any theory involving pre-indo-european languages in europe, which is to say, not much but there's no strong evidence against it either) that the celtic language family has an afro-asiatic substrate

that's an interesting thought. There are a weird number of grammatical similarities between celtic and afro-asiatic languages, and there are plausible explanations for how it got there, so it isn't that far-fetched

@starkatt so uh, I've seen you post things about outer wilds a bunch and I'm kind of curious what it is? I keep thinking it's that upcoming game that's supposed to be like fallout but that's not out yet, right?

@catoutofbed@octodon.social I like how your name shows up in notifications.

just saw an old thing probably from the 50s or 60s talking about how "the controversial "air-bag" is likely to become compulsory in automobiles" and it just baffles me to think that airbags were ever controversial but I guess I can see why, putting explosives in the steering wheel does sound a bit scary

bad idea: put a space heater and a portable air conditioner next to each other, turn both on, and see which one wins

today we learned: they make (or made) 12 μAh rechargeable lithium cells in little DFN packages

I can't really see much use for this but the package choice is interesting. capacity leaves a lot to be desired though

there are a bunch of people on here I don't talk to much but I do appreciate all of you and you're good

I don't know what to do about this problem because this apartment won't fit another bookshelf

we have too many books and video games, they don't fit on the bookshelf

It's a perfectly valid transliteration and probably does a bit better a job of showing how it's pronounced than Mendeleev does, as long as you treat the j as /j/ and not /dʒ/, but it's just amusing that it basically could be shortened to Jeff. You know, Jeff, the periodic table guy.

the Hearth :ms_agender_flag: boosted

hey y'all, here's a big reminder that neopronouns, otherkin, and non-dysphoric trans/enby folks are all valid as heck

i love and support and appreciate y'all, for real :purple_sparkling_heart: :purple_sparkling_heart: :blobcatheart: :purple_sparkling_heart: :purple_sparkling_heart:

Apparently, one of the first English reports of Mendeleev's periodic table transliterated his name as Mendelejeff.
