I will never get over how wild it is that inverse kinematics is actually computationally easy because it _feels_ like it should be a very difficult problem

there are many things in computing that feel like they should be simple but are actually hard, but few things that feel like they should be hard that are actually easy

random question because I heard someone pronounce it in a way we're not used to hearing: how many syllables does the word auxiliary have?

apparently contrapoints made another video but everyone talking about it is just saying contra so for a moment I thought there was a new contra game or something

question about presumably bad person?

so I saw things earlier on here about how someone named Epstein had passed away and that people seemed to think that was a good thing but I have no idea who that actually is

the name was _all over_ the tabloids at the checkout at the grocery store just now so now i'm curious

@esp@sleeping.town @GlitterDisaster@snouts.online I like when weird things line up like this in my home column

Ancient famous people had fantastic names sometimes.

I want to see someone today named Anaximander or Vercingetorix or Zhuge Liang or Montezuma.

found an old sign-up card for playstation underground

I wonder what would happen if I filled it out and sent it in

An interesting thought: in a society of shapeshifters, a genre of puzzle book that consists of photos of people wearing unusual shapes with crucial anatomical parts concealed, where the goal is to figure out how to make that work anatomically

huh, apparently there's a thing people were doing about a year ago to help find people who can help with stuff, under the tag , and that sounds like a useful thing so here's mine: (in the reply)

sort of a subtoot, mention of abuse but only secondhand knowledge thereof

we've seen a couple people recently linking to art by an artist (who is a very good artist!) who has a history of abusive behavior including towards an acquaintance of ours (ex-acquaintance? we haven't spoken in a few years but more just drifting apart, not anything bad) and i'm not sure how to bring that up to people or if I even should

mentions firearms, but only tangentially

Fun fact: the first cavity magnetrons were made using the exact same machinery used to manufacture the spinny bit of revolvers, with a little bit of post-machining to make it more magnetron-shaped

iwrc they actually rented or bought the machining equipment from a gunsmithing company

fun fact: you can fairly accurately approximate the capacity of a common high-density 3.5" floppy disk as 1/ln(2) megabytes

why you would want to do this, I have no idea. but you can!

question about slur(??)

what exactly does "cuck" mean
