today on a whim we tried the weird hershey's "symphony" bar that we've always seen in stores and wondered what's different from a regular hershey's bar

it's actually really different??? it's still mass-market cheap chocolate but it's way better than regular hershey's

this youtube channel that does "video game with an actual (kind of person the game is about)" videos (we've been watching their "phoenix wright with an actual lawyer" series) seems to have just posted a video of "disco elysium with an actual communist" and it just feels kinda like that would be any playthrough of the game we would watch

74LS is pretty nice for playing around with because it has a high enough output impedance that you can drive LEDs directly from it without resistors

74HCT is a lot easier to get now though

i do love that zero ohm resistors are a thing that exists

and that they're usually higher resistance than dedicated low-resistance shunts

you don't get zero-farad capacitors or zero-henry inductors, but you do get zero-ohm resistors

it does make sense though; they both do the same thing: dump energy into water to raise its temperature

it's just that the actual industrial boilers take it a step further to actually boil the water, whereas water heaters... don't

so boiler is a bit of a misnomer since no boiling is involved (or if it is, something's gone very wrong)

the fact that some people call water heaters "boilers" is really weird to us

we mostly associate the word "boiler" with the industrial equipment for producing high-pressure steam, known for being *incredibly* dangerous if anything goes wrong, i.e. exactly the sort of thing you absolutely do not want to be in domestic buildings
