weird science fiction short story concept, ominous
There is an oracle machine. It tells the correct answer to any question you ask it, without fail.
Some cosmologists ask it questions about the nature of the universe, and when they're asking about time, after "What is time?" and "Why is time?", someone jokingly asks it "When is time?"
It answers with a date and time, right down to the nanosecond, a date approximately four weeks in the future, and then refuses to answer any further questions.

today we learned: vanilla is a new world plant, so until the late 15th century at the absolute earliest no european, african, or asian cuisine ever used vanilla
that's a little hard to believe with how ubiquitous it is today! just about every recipe for anything even slightly sweet has a tiny bit of vanilla in it these days

we had a video game of it as a kid, which is what the previous post was about, but we definitely didn't get the whole story from that
but also dragon ball z feels very much like a "making it up as they go" sort of story--i understand it originated from toriyama telling his kids bedtime stories or something along those lines

i would like to request Opinions!:
Is it just nostalgia (we had this game as a kid) or is this actually really good music? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=muN2EDa1mEE

also if you look at enemy details, sometimes there's amusing things, like one generic enemy type called "hooligan" is noted as being someone "wanted on several counts of chicanery and multiple counts of shenanigans"

then if you go to that other npc and run around him three times counterclockwise, he gets dizzy, stumbles, and knocks a box off of the top of the really tall tower he's on, which then lands right next to the random well-dressed guy and you can go pick up its contents
-F
this game's writing is a little weird but i appreciate the humor in having a random well-dressed npc in the middle of all these super-powerful bad guys who just says "do you know [other more major npc]? I heard he hates it if you run around him three times going counterclockwise. <beat> Don't ask me how I know that."

re: mh +, video games
i think... we should do more of this
the game in question by the way is dragon ball z legacy of goku 2 on the gba
which we remembered being good but didn't think would *actually* be good, it's a pretty solid kinda.... zelda-like almost? with fewer puzzles and more monsters
this is the only dragon ball z media we ever did anything with so the characters keep referencing stuff we have no idea about
we tried playing the first game and that one *is* pretty bad

mh +, video games
we saw something that reminded us of a video game we played a long time ago as a kid and we went to go play it again and actually i feel like indulging in nostalgia is helping us remember the good memories from our childhood? instead of just the bad ones (mostly of kid-us embarrassing themself) that have plagued us as intrusive thoughts for over a decade
-F
just out of *nowhere* remembered this tv show from the early 00s that we saw like two episodes of ever, does anyone else remember this show?
Begpost, please boost
If you're feeling generous, money has been tight since I left my abusive workplace. I’m preparing to move out at the end of May, so anything you can give to help me make that process easier I would be extremely thankful for, because I’m going to need help getting my stuff out, and gas alone is nightmarishly expensive. Additionally I have medical bills and car repair costs I could really use help paying off. 💜
Thank you again, any amount is so so so so appreciated <3
