kink stuff

@Lioness your recent posts reminded me that someone linked this to me earlier today and I think you might like it: kotep.xyz/post/sync/

(that's not really something you'd say quod erat demonstrandum after though. I tend to save that for the really fancy and elegant things. Something like that wouldn't even get a W⁵, it'd just get a ∎ at most

How do magnets work?

QED, QED.

Quantum electrodynamics, quod erat demonstrandum.

I mean where else does such a high number show up in the exponent of a physical system

I really like how, in the helium flash, fusion rate is proportional to something like the fortieth power of temperature

why is good soda so expensive anyway

I want more birch beer, or fancy root beer or sarsaparilla or something

There was a test today in my complex analysis course that half the class didn't know even existed and half the ones who did know it existed thought it was on friday and no one in the entire class was able to actually complete it in the allotted time and I was only able to get one problem out of seven done because I do not do well with unexpected situations and I have no idea what I'm doing in that class anyway

basically I'm trying to say go give @catterfly@mastodon.social / @catterfly money and get your own cute drawings :D

A sleepy quilpix me, as drawn by @catterfly@mastodon.social / @catterfly ! Too adorable <3 Meaning to color this sometime but I keep not getting around to it and I want people to seeee. awoo.space/media/vAdfFkwAXjmec

The comments on youtube videos about quantum physics are full of a mix of people arguing whether god exists or not, people wildly misunderstanding the implications of quantum phenomena, people putting forth theories that have been long since shown to be flawed as if they were the obvious truth, people putting forth theories that they just made up as if they were the obvious truth, and the one person who seems to think quantum physics is all some sort of alien conspiracy or something.

Or is it wrong that photon amplitude is non-quantized? If it is quantized, what's the amplitude quantum?

Show thread

Something I've never quite understood: Photon frequency is quantized, but amplitude is not. So what distinguishes two coherent photons from one photon with twice the amplitude? In both cases, the waveform would be identical, but the two coherent photons have twice the energy of the single double-amplitude photon, since energy depends only on frequency.

Ponderance-that-i-am-too-lazy-to-google of the day: I wonder if anything still uses LORAN.

why is φ_f not showing up in any of the fourier series that Mathematica gives me... Might have to look into what exactly the force exp-to-trig function does
