So I just got misgendered by someone (MsDecapre, formerly known as Carby) who was angry about the stuff I said a year ago that I now regret.

I can understand being called an asshole or even a fash for those shitty actions I took, and I will apologize and own up. But to casually misgender, and then pretend to not know? That crosses a line.

Yeah, if there is any further proof that the Daryl Davis method of helping reactionaries talk through their issues is ineffective on reactionaries, this is it. They will take advantage of you, forcing you to commit a ton of emotional labour for them, trying to understand them, and will use that to constantly throw shit tests at you. The moment you stand up for yourself and draw a line in the sand, they're gone.

This guy, scared of being labeled a racist for only being attracted to pale skinned people, and bearing a lot of hangups about not being able to find relationships, came to me for advice and I agreed to talk him through it. He was one of the few people who seemed okay from the CivilFurs chat I left behind last year, and he was a friend of mine.

All throughout the conversation he kept talking about how it makes him feel racist and accuse me of low-key thinking of him being a racist. A claim which I haven't attempted to do. So to calm him down, I tell him that, I deal with a lot of bullshit myself, being a demi, from idiots who think it's just sexual aversion, or that I am a snowflake who seeks to describe myself with word salads.

Guess what he did, exactly that.

So I called him out for being hypocritical, and he talks, typical ignorant fluff and in a way that feels like a gotcha game. So I flat out told him that his inherent mistrust in people is going to sabotage every single relationship he will get into due to the hostile colour it adds, and...he didn't take it well.

Why the fuck do I keep putting myself through this?
