re: liberation theory

@stackingstones@todon.nl @mooncake It's easy to say the right things, but doing the right thing seems to happen a lot rarely.

I think it would be worth it if actions and praxis is discussed as well, because that will translate into a material improvement to the vulnerable communities.

So stuff like mutual aid, community self-defense and calling out bad behaviour, etc.

misogynoir, abuse and violence mention

Like, you're going to tell me I didn't get hit by my dad as a teenager for saying a Black woman on TV was beautiful, and for getting upset when he told me Black women weren't beautiful? You're going to tell me it wasn't racist because it didn't come from a white man? I am not a primary victim of antiblackness of course, not by a long shot, but you don't get to tell me what I experienced and what Black people go through just to save your own egos or to coddle your friends. Just shut your fucking ignorant, cowardly mouths and think about what you're doing when you glibly repeat these lies which serve nothing but white supremacy and antiblackness.

Plural folks are valid. I can’t judge y’all.

Meta, w.e defederation choices

Fun fact!

Black people can be primary sources! If a Black user says that they're experiencing a lot of antiblackness, you do not actually need to find someone else to cite! You don't need a secondary source at all!

Hope this saves everyone some effort! :blobkissheart:

@wauz The USA didn't come out of nowhere, though--it's a product of, and also a reproducer and amplifier of, an international order of colonialism and capitalism which justified itself based on the superiority of the white race and its right to rule, with Blackness being defined as the antithesis of white superiority and civilization. Structural antiblackness is firmly rooted in the British economic order and European enlightenment, constructs which were exported to and enforced in far-flung places along with colonialism. You can't localize antiblackness to just the "USA" as a way to deny its global reach.

Fedi Meta | Shitposting

There is absolutely nothing wrong with shitposting itself, the toxicity comes from the mean-spirited inhumanity, and irony poisoning that bad faith actors engage in.

They call it shitposting, I call it social poisoning. Real shitposting is innocuous and unmalicious.

So if the bad actors tell you that their toxicity is shitposting, they're lying to you and their toxicity is probably radioactive too. Be cautious when dealing with them.

re: callout meta, harassment site (subtoot, none of y'all)

@synthgal nofuckingbody should trust hate groups or give them even an inch

*offers virtual hugs*

birdsite x-post

Bought Portal 2 probably ~5 years ago, but only just now got around to playing it. Played the entire thing in just 2 sittings. The writing was wonderful, and definitely a worthwhile game.

@Trashbang why waste precious BFG ammo when you can just provoke infighting? ;)

I feel like the great lasting irony of 'shoot the cyberdemon until it dies' is that if I encounter a cyberdemon in any kind of modern wad, shooting it until it dies is the absolute last thing I will actually try

*hoovering up rockets, megaspheres, BFGs* maybe I need to telefrag it? Mmm, no, that must be a crushing ceiling, somehow. Or maybe it teleports out of there at some point.

@owashii@plush.city @artemis@vulpine.club Naah, I am a fire elemental. ;)

@owashii@plush.city @artemis@vulpine.club You both seem cool.

@ljwrites yeah, colorism does not exist at all. /s

If even black people can be racist against black people why the fuck would other people of color not be? Antiblackness is completely is everywhere. It's a brick that modern (western?) society was built on. Nobody is magically fucking incapable of doing it what the fuck.

re: w.e. meta

@distel Yeah, that's what raised a big red flag though, treating this like a joke.

The other red flag, is their attempt to gaslight over the incident and whitewash victims, while throwing out spurious accusations of making sweeping statements.

They are free to defed, honestly it makes no difference to me and the less I have to deal with them, the better.

re: w.e. meta

@distel They're tight with Monads, that's all that needs to be said.

And it seems like they're reaching for radioactive accusations they can sling back in retribution. That is not a good sign of moral character on their part.

@CaribenxMarciaX I lost count of the number of times I was hit with the realization of how much privilege I have, even as a non-white-passing NB POC perpetually in poverty, over black folk, and how much work there still needs to be done before PoC solidarity could even begin to be claimed.

These white-passing folk have no idea just how easy they have it, or how often they punch down.

this is why white ppl got their panties in a bunch from the w.e announcement

"you mean non black ppl are being racist? that in it of itself is racist!"

If youre operating within the idea that this world is hostile to Black people then this isn't a leap. It rubs you the wrong way bc you haven't done the work yet to understand dynamics, or you see yourself in those that are accused of problems. Sounds like you problem, choose what side you want to be on
