I'm boycotting the fedi this month for #BHM.

W.E did a defed for reasons of antiblackness, & the debate became about being racist towards primarily non black poc, meaning the fedi again shows it doesn't care abt antiblackness; the convo centered ppl NOT Black. That's a problem.

On top of the fact that white ppl were doing what they could to erase Blk voices or being demeaning towards them whilst misusing AAVE, bc it didnt serve their narrative. And they weren't checked 🙃

mockery is for punching up at powerful forces you can't otherwise touch. self defense. community defense.

punching down or sideways it's just abuse. it kills dialogue. fuels conflict. doesn't solve anything. there's more effective ways to handle interpersonal shit

ableism is flying high today so here's a reminder to challenge your knee jerk reaction of assuming a manufactured design is for "lazy" people and instead think about how you don't consider the accessibility and daily life functions of disabled people who sometimes cannot grip lids, can't bend down to put on shoes or socks, who cannot cut vegetables, or who need altered clothing to accommodate their wheelchairs
