@rosebuck Also, buy the fuck out of music produced by Black musicians and producers, stories and books by black writers, art by black artists and games by black developers, and make sure as much money goes to them directly as opposed to the white techbro fuckboys that serves as the middle men.
I don't want you to put "BLM" in your display name. I don't want you to put "Black Lives Matter ✊🏾" in your bio.
I want you to unfollow the friend who posts racist jokes.
I want you to confront your parents when they make racist comments.
I want you to stop ignoring the racist coworker b/c they're old.
I want you to donate your time/resources/expertise to local groups making a direct impact on their communities.
I want you actually SHOW black lives that they matter while they're alive.
New discoveries since I last fronted:
Subtoot

@coda You shouldn't get over it, we should keep saying that ALL kinds of lesbians are valid until all of the gatekeepers shut the fuck up and go away.
-organized protests about basically every social justice topic under the sun, deferring to local community organizers for Black Lives Matter when they were organizing marches, etc, and joined in with them
-organized hot food donations, etc, for the cold-weather shelter the last five or so years running
among like half a dozen other things.
-was one of the first people to address the problems with houseless people in our small town; used to volunteer for the first shelter in town, was an organizer for another one (which is aimed at women fleeing bad situations), and actually ended up donating a large plot of land and helping a local group build housing for houseless people who don't gel well with a traditional shelter situation due to mental illness or other difficulties
literally tho, uh.
-started getting into social justice, especially racial justice and peace activism, in the 1970s. got arrested multiple times. told the newspaper when they did a spotlight on him a couple of years ago that it was a worthy cause and that was why he was always willing to get arrested -- "this is how you stand up for what you believe in, by engaging in civil disobedience and demonstrating the inherent unfairness of the system"
one of the local people I knew as Walking the Walk in addition to, you know, talking a big game about social justice apparently died over the weekend. He was quite old so this is not a surprise.
what was surprising to me is just how long and varied his bio was in terms of "good acts done", starting with how much blood he donated over his lifetime (80+ gallons! W H A T), and ending with the recent work he's done with Black Lives Matter.
@Bruzer hi
@bgcarlisle If it's okay to add on with Black artists and creators?
