so it turns out that a bunch of students who joined "grass roots" free-speech movements in the UK discovered shortly afterwards that (a) they were astroturf fronts for Toby Young's cryptofascist Free Speech Union, and (b) that they were asked to refrain from expressing certain views that didn't hew to the right wing orthodoxy of the FSU

generally speaking, humility is a whole hell of a lot better of an idea than social media makes it out to be. especially if you are a privileged person speaking in a space of marginalization.

regardless of any specific details or Ifs or Asterisks, you can and eventually will fuck up and hurt people. and you will do it faster and more often if you stick to "must post now, can't think twice"
