hey! i'm dealing with a time sensitive financial emergency
i ended up being called by debters from an urgent care i went to some months back this year and found out i owe them 345. i gotta try and pay it before the end of the year or they will probably, honestly most likely, raise the debt higher!
i can lower the total of it all however if i can pay 245 by friday of next week and then it'll be finally over with
sorry this is pretty late i just realized i could post here

Political take, Prison Industrial Complex
Prisons are just glorified slave camps, one might agree and add "now" but, I fail to see any time in history where imprisonment isn't a tool for oppression by the status quo.
Ultimately, the goal should be to abolish prisons completely, but for people to be receptive of that, we need to do a lot to address psychophobia, ableism and generational poverty that plague our society and cause us to commit crimes.
Punishment does not solve problems, it does not undo the harm, all it does is make an example out of the wrongdoer, via state violence, as a fear-based deterrent to the rest of the population. I think rehabilitative and restorative justice is a far better use of our time, and does more to prevent crime from happening.
After all, people who are truly content with their lives wouldn't be motivated to cause harm to one another.
acab, chilling effect
@activationfxn Why don't you mention at all one of the chief reasons Black people get imprisoned disproportionally? It is RACISM. There are Left Black Organizations, all by themselves. The help of white leftists was and is, to put it nicely, limited. What did help and is helping are Black Organizations like the NOI or the Black Panthers (just to name two).

Transmisogyny, vent about tme people
Constantly reminded of how actively every tme person seems to look for any opportunity to accuse a transfem of having 'male privilege' using weasel-words.
Bear in mind if/when you get this impulse, that there's a 100% chance your language directly benefits TERFs. A 90% chance you've swallowed their rhetoric verbatim.
And while we're at it, AMABs who present 'effectively as men' don't have male privilege either. That discourse can die in a ditch forever.

Breaking News: Hong Kong's pro-democracy candidates won a stunning victory in local elections that drew a record turnout, in a sharp rebuke of Chinese policies https://nyti.ms/34lmmly
HK pol, voting. +
"Hong Kong’s voters have turned out in record numbers to deliver a landslide for pro-democracy campaigners and a powerful rebuke to the government, in local elections that were widely seen as a proxy referendum on the city’s protest movement.
Both in absolute numbers, and in turnout rates, it was easily the biggest exercise in democratic participation that Hong Kong has ever seen, with many voters waiting more than an hour to cast their ballot.
When polls closed at 10.30pm on Sunday, nearly 3 million people had voted, representing more than 71% of the electorate and nearly half of Hong Kong’s entire population. Many had never voted before.
They handed control of at least 15 of the city’s 18 district councils to pro-democracy politicians, a sea-change in Hong Kong politics."
