do you ever just think about how adults spread anti-kid propaganda casually everywhere that kids exist? i remember posters in my high school mocking teenagers with phrases like "Quick! Move out while you still know everything!" and yeah in one regard, i remember being 15 and thinking i knew more than i really did but on the other hand, its used to silence the voices of kids who do have legitimate complaints about adults wrt abuse, the ever distant goal posts of education, autonomy, and it impacts us well into adult hood.

we're really just casually okay with making sure kids have zero respect as humans.

I haven’t thrown my 2¢ in about our defederation decision yet. Mostly my fellow mods have said what I would have wanted to say, but faster, clearer and more insightfully.

I do want to address one question I’ve seen come up from multiple w.e. users, which I don’t think we’ve spoken to directly yet: Why are we banning the whole instance, instead of just the individual bad actors?

There are three reasons. The second one is the most important.

reminder to other white people that white guilt is racist because it’s taking the pain and suffering of people of color and making it about yourself and your feelings; instead of wasting time and energy by feeling guilty be a better ally to people of color by educating yourself and other white people about racism and using money, time, energy and other resources to help people of color in need

I don't want you to put "BLM" in your display name. I don't want you to put "Black Lives Matter ✊🏾" in your bio.

I want you to unfollow the friend who posts racist jokes.

I want you to confront your parents when they make racist comments.

I want you to stop ignoring the racist coworker b/c they're old.

I want you to donate your time/resources/expertise to local groups making a direct impact on their communities.

I want you actually SHOW black lives that they matter while they're alive.
