I think one thing that needs to be more widely-understood is that "being inclusive" doesn't mean catering to one person's specific discomforts, especially in larger spaces like Discord servers with like, 50 or more members

@FreyaManibrandr Nintendo is the absolute worst about that. And of course they immediately kill anything that gets media attention.

But the absolute worst BS is taking down ROM sites when they have a vast library of great games and then turn around and provide their Big 3 classics and fill the rest with steaming shit nobody wants.

If those games are so important, maybe sell some of it once you're done downloading it prior to your C&D?

@FreyaManibrandr Yep. *Especially* anything Nintendo has their fingers in. I did some recent posts on it, but decided against linking this one to them.

TBH as much as I had some really cool and well-thought ideas that would have incorporated the existing characters, and unlike most Chrono fangames I understood and respected the lore (seriously, so many just wanted to undo Chrono Cross), I'd much rather do something cool for myself than a victory lap for someone else.

You know how I was talking about not doing fan games? I was able to completely remove my Chrono Break idea from Chrono as a series and I already have something that completely stands on its own, with a battle system that combines and enhances those from CT and CC, and a cast that really doesn't need any returning characters.

Sure, it meant cutting a lot of cool ideas about the way Chrono loose ends could be tied up, but the original ideas are enough on their own for a game.

i've been working on a MIDI player based on the new OPL3 emulation core from MAME! check it out if you like that sort of stuff

i need to put up some good audio examples later, but try it out with the included patch set (or supply your own) and see what you think

inheritance is fundamentally broken without encapsulation. if i inherit from a class, i can't define any new fields on my subclass without potentially overriding one of the fields of my superclass. like this is virtually unavoidable as long as superclasses can contain fields that are not part of their public API, and that i am allowed to accidentally override. this is just a fact
