so, one way i can tell to defuse these things is to look at their claims even if you agree with them, and demand to see evidence
and then actually read the evidence to see if it actually agrees and is itself supported by anything
if it does, and you agree, you get something in your own pocket to use later. if you disagree, then there's something to consider for your own arguments.
if it's unfounded, well, nail in the coffin there

Fedi Meta
The best part about the wild conspiracy theories slung about by bad actors and their DARVO screeds about how they're the real victims, and that the people protecting themselves from the abuse are the real abusers is that I don't have to put up with or even validate it by arguing it. Because their toxicity got rewarded by a defed.
...and so the fediverse is a noticeably more pleasant place.
don't just live out of spite, live because somewhere out there is someone threatened by your existence and your existence threatens their power ✨
response to a read of this rambling
I know that might sound super flaccid after everything I was saying, but shit like Amazing Atheist is that same crap, it's just as lazy and inactive.
"#Drumpf" style resistance isn't just lazy, it's self-assuring. THAT'S what I'm pointing to with easy answers. People are good at building up self-satisfaction as ideologies.
Religion I stand by, though. It's not all mega-churches. People ignore spirituality amongst oppressed groups a lot.
also kill all nazis
let's just
be unambiguous about this
there's no conversation to be had when you get to that point. pretending there's empathy left to be had at that point is just a bunch of self-satisfied "i'm a good person by not doing anything" crap
i am pro-ending-nazi-life
i am less comfortable with killing rabid dogs than nazis
i'd like to point back to when i stated this was not an easy answer, it was a simple one. I dunno how to be more explicit, though?
kill all nazis
the spawning of fascism, alt-right, atheism
Yo, got a heads up about at some folks interpreting this as that kind of proto-fascist "all lives matters" horseshit, which, yeah, I can see why.
I'm trying to say is that you need to watch your ass, especially with how lazy you get and how much of this is motivated by entertainment and ego.
When I say the next fascists are gonna be against the alt-right, I'm thinking about "WHITE SUPREMACISTS OWNED BY JOHN OLIVER ZINGER", not "going too far"

the spawning of fascism, alt-right, atheism
I think 'easy answers' is the poison, here.
Saying any type of religion is bad is an easy answer. That's a complicated topic. The line of spirituality and faith gets murky when discussing matters we can barely speculate on.
Saying fascism is bad is an easy answer - that's why fascists say it, too. The trouble is identifying good praxis. The idea of "punch every nazi" isn't *easy*, it's *simple.* It's easier to say than to believe, I find.
i feel like it's really important to remember this era of internet history - I mean, yeah, those jackasses are still out there, but this is how it formed.
it needs to be pointed out that the alt-right has largely taken the place of religion in this arena. it's easy to "argue" with them. they not only don't care, they want any attention to spread snappy little catchphrases. they don't define winning the same way you do.
the next monsters will be fighting the alt-right.
@FreyaManibrandr fuck, you put it a lot better, thanks.
I am actually meant to be working but like, i really appreciate your use of colonalist, here. you're damn right.
it all starts with "fighting the good fight"
a lot of internet atheists developed the tactics used by the alt-right.
religion is such a dependably badly-argued topic that it really became about really more about humiliating people in a safe way - by not doing it to folks who care enough to react. Internet Atheists (and i use it as a term, here) liked to make it look as simple as picking an embarrassing bible verse.
if you know about shitheads like sargon of akkad, this is where those tactics were bred. you didn't need to try.
like honestly the internet's getting older and i feel like it's worth really documenting how internet atheism gave way to the alt-right.
but long story short, it's an acceptable target for treating people like they're lesser. it used to be both safe and a shock-thrill.
okay maybe not actually shocking but at least edgy in a south park way.
it was rebelling without rebelling, and a way you could call people lesser without choosing a target that looks overtly hateful.
