@porsupah Hard to tell what this is yet. Reporters I follow who have been watching this subpoena battle believe this is maybe John Kelly or some other high-level staffer, given the flow of sealed motions over the past weeks on this one.

It does make one wonder, though.

I just explained to someone why Russia trying to start a land war with Ukraine directly impacts whether we will see this US administration try to commit domestic atrocities over the holidays, and it has reminded me how much I want it to be January already.

Can we agree to never have the world work this way again, please? I’d very much like to not see people I care about in vulnerable communities targeted because the venal man in office is compromised and afraid of losing power.

Does anyone know to whom the phrase “you cannot use technology to solve social problems” attributes to? Google’s results are apparently SEOed enough that it’s difficult to search for, and I’ve definitely heard it earlier than one source’s attribution of it to Quinn Norton.

@troodon (Although only the PC build is going to support its mods, which as in another thread, are pretty important to doing more advanced things than building with blocks and building logic circuits in redstone.)

@troodon It’s still one of the simplest and best supported block building game for adults, despite several clones, its acquisition by Microsoft, and its creator being a jerk. Sort of like how Garry’s Mod is still around because it remained useful.

Which I guess helps? Since it’s on everything now, it’s good to mess around with and branch off later if needed, using Google and Steam searches into more specialized or newer things (eg, Factorio, Zachtronics, 3D art tools, etc).

I’ve been running Link for the entire campaign so far with Move Speed Up/Made of Metal and a skill build into double final smash, and I’ve only needed to swap him out for a few mechanics like Strong Wind. There’s an advanced spirit that also gives 50% damage or stamina recovery when low, and that all breaks the game pretty hard.

Thankfully, harder boss fights cheat more.

@troodon As I understand it from folks I followed over there, Tumblr’s community replicated the fora- and USENET-era community issues we older folks remember from earlier otherkin communities. Some of that is because it’s a younger community, some of it is because of specific circles of people, and there are quite a few good folks coming in too that could use a healthier community.

I think it’ll help if instance admins help us sift trolls out, too, and I encourage them to do so.
