The visuals were completely revamped, and are for the most part higher saturation. They also work around the transparency and lighting processors that the GameCube has that the 3DS doesn’t, as well as a lack of normal mapping on 3DS hardware. The textures, however, seem to have been completely redone and are generally higher resolution and less muddy than the GC.

@JulieSqveakaroo No easy answer, but part of the puzzle is removing property that one has from their value to and impact on society. Which remains unsolved, but has many good partial answers.

Someone recently stated that corruption is “property showing its teeth”, and I can’t think of a more apt summary.

@frameacloud I believe folks I know that play Magic: The Gathering have often quipped that while this planet settled on Azorius (law mages, law-is-magic), they’d prefer if it were Simic (transformation is experimental data, very accessible, but with many many ethics issues).

I know this isn’t the magic system you were thinking of, but I think about that often.

I don’t think human beings were set up for such ephemeral connections, and the way it emphasizes performative behavior makes it really hard to build meaningful connections. Sites set up with smaller communities that connect to each other modeled things better, and... I guess we’re seeing those return?

(I’m aware that the most ethical thing to do is quit the industry. I plan to exit once it’s possible for me to do so. I’d like to help in the meantime.)

For those of us that can’t protest Amazon in person because it may jeopardize our employment, are there any good orgs to donate time and money towards?

I know that sounds hypocritical, but many of us in tech have to stay employed to keep a roof over our loved ones while trying to fight late capitalism and fascism.

I want to live in a world in which my paranoia isn’t valuable.

Friends and family have reached out to me to thank me for advising them to not post personal info to Facebook and Twitter, and for articulating the danger of all of this before it metastasized in uspol and internationally. That’s all well and good, but let’s fight for a world in which we can be open and free about ourselves, without having to worry about the calculus of what evil people will do with all that info.
