Weird variant of tailvore I just thought of
With a big, fluffy tail: Wave your tail through the prey, absorbing a tiny portion of them each time. One wave, they become 1% less dense and 1% less tangible. Two waves, and 2%. (or it could go by any other percentage!). The prey basically just slowly fades out as opposed to being either eaten or not.
