Furry "drama" involving Nazis (--)
@salameleon What the fuck? Why does this event organizer think it’s a good policy idea to let their event be extorted into compliance?
Lizard is finished!
The digital version is already available at: https://rainwarrior.itch.io/lizard
NES cartridges will be shipped out to kickstarter backers very soon, and once this is finished they will be available for sale.
prostitution scandal-news
@KawaSeadrake @Finfell@dragon.style The only reasonable argument against it I’ve seen lately is “we don’t want to cancel unemployment insurance for refusing work as a prostitute”, but I think this is solvable in the short term by “exempt sex work from the ‘must accept any work offered’ rule” and in the long term by replacing unemployment insurance (basic income for people who once had income) with real universal basic income.
hot economic take
Minimum wage is a shitty basic income program that only covers people with jobs, at the expense of employers.
I’d rather we have basic income and no minimum wage. When “unemployed” doesn’t mean “starving and homeless”, it’s a valid competitor to “terrible underpaying job” and suddenly wages will correlate somewhat with suckitude of a job

@salameleon @Finfell@dragon.style It's understandable from both perspectives - most people really aren't anywhere near that foul and it's reasonable to prefer to give people a chance to prove that they're not, but someone already in the crosshairs of someone (or a group) who *is* that odious is going to have exactly zero patience left for explaining that, no, this isn't a stretch.
They'll make mistakes too, because they will uncharitably interpret someone clumsy. It sucks.

@Finfell@dragon.style @salameleon The fundamental difficulty you're having believing that a given person could be *that big an asshole* is, I suspect, behind 95% of what gets labeled as "whataboutism" or "apologism" or looking for justifications for white supremacists or the like. And I think that's really unfortunate, because *sincerely good-natured people who are boggled at secondhand encounters with people who aren't* tend to become Anger Magnets from The Woke as a result.

@salameleon @Finfell@dragon.style Don't get me wrong, I'm all about free speech and I totally support their rights to be idiots as loudly as they like, it makes it easier to identify them and systematically eject them from any social space I have any control over whatsoever. I will do nothing to suggest it be illegal for them to express their views, but I am completely willing to judge them _very_ harshly for their views and behavior and act accordingly.
Furry "drama" involving Nazis (-)
@Finfell@dragon.style @salameleon Admittedly, I'm worried about any campaign successfully cross-associating stinging insect fursonas with the "furry raiders", lest they claim a larger portion of idea-space and taint stinging insects thereby.
(in conclusion, I prefer aggressive Chinese hornets to literal Nazis)
Furry "drama" involving Nazis (-)
@Finfell@dragon.style @salameleon If someone is broadcasting loudly on every channel they have that they would like to be treated like a Nazi, then I see nothing wrong with treating them like a literal Nazi. Every objection I have to accusing people of being Nazis and ostracizing them thereby refers to people who are _inferred_ to be Nazis, not people who choose to claim it for themselves.
Furry "drama" involving Nazis (-)
@Finfell@dragon.style @salameleon I am willing to entertain the idea that a subset of people using Nazi imagery are not Nazis. However, voluntary use of Nazi imagerey is beyond the point at which I am willing to continue assigning good faith to someone's behavior. A tiny fraction of people may be genuinely ignorant; anyone who wants to walk away from the whole thing should be allowed (and encouraged) to. _prior_ association with the "furry raiders" is forgivable IMO.
Furry "drama" involving Nazis (-)
@Finfell@dragon.style @salameleon Furry has no shortage of "more dramatic nonconformities" people can pick - stinging insect fursonas are really efficient for making people feel uncomfortable and then making people engage with that and examine that in a much less censureable way.
Furry "drama" involving Nazis (-)
@Finfell@dragon.style @salameleon If someone is choosing to identify themselves with Nazi imagery and paraphanalia, I don't think there is any reason to accommodate them. I see 3 possibilities - they're literal Nazis (kick them out of any space intended to be tolerant of queer people), they're sexually aroused by Nazi imagery (keep it in the bedroom - I have the same opinion of people who walk around cons in bondage gear), or they're trolls (kick them out of any space).
I now have a very skeletal, primitive draft of this hybrid trick-taking/wagering game. I wanted a true wagering game, not a game where increased commitment to the pot just sort of happens as the game is played, but a game with more "play" and meat to it than pure poker. I have played a few hands of Three-Handed No against myself now using a 12-card deck, and I have concluded that:
* 12 cards is not enough for a 3-player trick-taking game although it's an interesting way to talk about auction strategy
* there's something here. There's a playable game in this and it may even be good.
