@admin Notifications aren't working for me for some reason

...wait, the small handful of bitcoins I bought a while ago to buy "research chemicals" from "nootropics" vendors and left lying around are worth HOW FUCKING MUCH right now o..o

Yet another small, well-focused changelist that through code review is repurposed for a completely different purpose and I check it in after approval and only belatedly realize that I have now not solved the original problem I was trying to solve in the codebase

It is much too cold today for getting out of bed

I have discovered that my otherwise-excellent new laptop backpack is not very rain-resistant. I discovered this two days ago when I got stuck at a bus stop with no shelter in the first heavy rain we've had for months (literally the first rain at all for months, and it was serious rain). The upshot to this is that my work laptop has water damage now. :|

At least my employer's attitude towards this is "eh, shit happens", but I still feel really self-conscious about having destroyed a laptop.

Prediction: with the return of GIF as an animation format, “animated SVG” will become a thing and in ten years will reimplement Flash, ongoing web browser security nightmare and all

I just spent the last 35 minutes trying to remember my iPhone backup encryption password because it turns out I have to know the existing password to start a new backup, and by some miracle I figured it out. Changing it and adding it to my password manager now, brb

There are crows jumping in puddles here. I think they're glad to have the rain back too.

Metroid: Samus Returns uses "aeion" as its psi-like "powers that require energy" mechanic and all I can think is "aeiou". Thanks, @neonNeptunian

"Tourists at the Koorana Saltwater Crocodile Farm in Coowonga, Queensland, Australia, including 62 males and 41 females, aged 18–66 (M = 34.2, SD = 13.3), were randomly assigned to play a laptop-simulated Electronic Gaming Machine (EGM) either: (1) prior to entry, or (2) after having held a 1-m saltwater-crocodile." link.springer.com/article/10.1

I have latex dromaeosaurs on the mind for some reason.

Objective-C is this bizarre mix of at least two languages with three incompatible type systems glued together. I look forward to working in Objective-C++, which is three languages with at least five type systems

Open offices are terrible. I somehow feel crowded and lonely at the same time.

Feelings of loneliness are weridly refreshing. I'm able to identify that I don't want to be away from people all the time! I've had this goal to isolate myself less, reach out to people more, and identifying loneliness as a distinct thing is something I can use to provoke myself to do that. Sometimes I forget that it's okay to just casually socialize with people and that it is okay to have motives to do so, and loneliness is a motive that is okay to act upon in such a way.

blatantly furry

sometimes I want social media for updates on peoples' lives, and sometimes I want discussion and commentary, but for now I just want latex or latex-covered scalie folks (explicitly including dragons and kobolds) cavorting indecently on my timeline and I should actively seek out more of that

I want overengineered solutions to nonexistent problems, but like actual nonexistent problems, like griffin overpopulation or merfolk looters

USELESS TRVIA OF THE DAY:

The "We aint' found shit" guy in Spaceballs was played by Tim Russ, who went on to play Tuvok on Star Trek: Voyager.
