Historical possibly trans note;

okay, so Anne Bonny and Mary Read both came from backgrounds of presenting male and both claimed to be pregnant when imprisoned for piracy, Mary supposedly came out as female to Anne after the latter was way interested in her etc etc. They're almost always presented as women rather than transmen.

Just in case you were wondering (I was) they were apparently ANDY Bonny and MARK Read respectively.

and THAT'S my excuse for listening to "Hanging Johnny" again, even if I can't sing along in the middle of Starbucks.

@Leucrotta I'm genuinely a bit happier to be able to call them by their desired names. Thank you for that historical footnote!

@zebratron2084 I have no clue whether they were transmen or no (I figure someone Queerer than me would say OF COURSE! and someone straighter than me would say OF COURSE NOT!), but anyway, if someone has a male nom de guerre, then what is it?

@Leucrotta Andy Bonny appears in Assassin's Creed Black Flag, and is generally pretty awesome, though awkwardly handled at one point, until the imprisonment.

There's Ned, a transman in the later AC Syndicate, handled better so far anyway. :-/
