I really need to leave this housing situation. It’s okay 70% of the time but that 30%... and it’s still here. The Bay Area compounds my feelings of entrapment and hopelessness.
@vahnj the big reasons I stay are 2 parts it’s familiar to 3 too poor to move. The only time I actually want to be here is in redwood forests I can’t afford to live near.
@Leucrotta hope you can get into a situation that works for you!
@Leucrotta @vahnj that's understandable. :/ and the redwood forests... I do miss them, very much. Seattle has Douglas pines, which are okay, but they *definitely* don't feel the same.
@vahnj @Leucrotta yeah... yeeaaaah. I didn't have any other "big city" experience for comparison (Santa Clara County is definitely a "suburban" experience and a whole different kind of hell), but now that I have Seattle to compare it to, the Bay Area seems... constrained, depressing, anxiety-causing.
@green @Leucrotta @vahnj I have been to the Bay Area twice for work. I can’t imagine living there and maintaining any quality of life or mental health. (Not being able to drive and having to deal with Huge Employer Commute Traffic probably affects my opinion.)
@Leucrotta oh hey I felt the same way when i lived there
