oh yeah the Punchout in Oakland theme tune!
re: Furry Art
@Charlotte fine, it's time for the 980 N Onramp theme tune again *cranks Mona Lisa Overdrive *
re: Furry Art
@Charlotte whoa, you totally move like they do
gas station sign said "Propane Get Your Car Washed" and my brain immediately followed up with "propane get your car washed, get your car washed propane, you've been hit by, you've been hit by a smooth criminal."
it gets worse because that thought led to "Propane, Propane, Propane Propaaaaaaane, I'm beggin' you please don't take my man"
I reread my copy of Dragon 66, which is actually the first issue I'd ever seen. There are all sorts of imaginative ads, stats for Elfquest characters (I wouldn't get to read that until much later), book reviews for stuff I still haven't read (and Mercanter's Luck, which I loved later), spells, *two* different articles with monsters, stuff about languages and D&D weapon restrictions, a humorous short story and this gorgeous Wormy comic at the very end...
it really is magic to me, still.
@chimerror I was thinking of the economic thing (cost of living increased WAY faster than wages or opportunities, college and health care went from being pricey to an obvious racket) rather than political, but the two definitely are tied together.
I lived in shared housing in NorCal for the longest time (and the place I lived longest there was rent controlled until the last 2 years, when the rent zoomed up) it sort of camouflaged just how ridiculous costs were getting, before 2016.

AI, the problem we all live with
I’m again thinking that AI stuff all looks like something a human was supposed to go in and fiddle with; a literal labor saving device. Get 70% done fast, roll fixing mistakes into the 30% which was going to be labor intensive anyway. But you can’t sell that sort of process to the same culture that gives us Amazon, inflation, rent increases, downsizing; it’s all about exploitation rather than investment.
Just thinking about how this mess arose organically. Everything now got started on my generation, but we were suddenly in a world with no Cold War and too few people to make a particularly solid lasting stink. The inevitable cost of living increases came with eagerly up scaling for a larger number of younger people and I feel like the return of Cold War values camouflaged how exploitative this was getting when it was easier to stop.

#drawings today, feeling very Col-Erase blue lately. Wizard vs beastman in a forest, a cleric conjures bright light against a vampire, and a fight between a githzerai with a monk’s spade and kitsune with a dao.

Lots of random gunk, but some drawings and cooking talk too. Obsesses about DnD and related topics. Left-leaning/profoundly frustrated politics. Black lives matter; trans rights are human rights.
