Old Person story time/2001
Okay, so I may have mentioned this before.
Back when I was a fairly little coyote, there was this show, The Electric Company - it was supposed to be Sesame Street for slightly older kids, fun but educational TV. I have no clue how something so focused on Black people and NYC got air time in rural Georgia public broadcasting but it was a brilliant show.
A LOT of the educational parts were cartoons which taught you about bits of written English - for instance Tom Lehrer contributed songs which got cartoons, about the -ly suffix or silent e. Some cartoons repeated a theme inspired by 2001, which was still pretty recent at that point. There'd be a 2001 style monolith and to the tune of Also Sprach Zarathustra, it'd crumble to reveal a syllable, like OO or AWK, which they'd repeat several times so you'd know how to pronounce it in the future.
So you can imagine how surprised I was when I finally was old enough to watch 2001... and there were monoliths... which didn't crumble at all!
*clicks on image* Okay, it's time for the furry cockworship theme tune again.

One #drawing today, vampires! Nosferatu, traditional bloodsucker on undead steed, and a Lovecraftian style invisible vampire who becomes visible when flushed with blood, inspired by a video about Mordheim.
pol adjacent rant
Given the sheer volume of very real reasons to be pissed off at other people, ethnicity, orientation and gender are such COMPLETE non entities you know? These are personal things that make DnD edition wars seem important and yet, they're always literally life or death issues.
And it's tempting to reference the beginning of "How Long Not Long?" here. Convince people who are quite safe that they are under attack, and attack marginalized folks so they have to dump their energy into survival and nobody goes after the REAL issue - namely that if we just taxed the fuck out of rich people, our country could look more prosperous than Sweden.
@Kyresti Actually - thanks for some weird reassurance here. Because of jobs being in flux I'm basically stuck renewing my lease for my current apartment, which makes me pucker - but it turns out to be about mid-range for studio costs locally (because greed), and having a laundry set up right here is one of the nicer things about the place.
@Kyresti Oh yeah! I and the ex had one for a while when we were in Alameda. We quickly gave up on the dryer (the elastic band vital to it working broke, it's placed inconvenient to replace, but air drying clothes is basically time and a lot more user friendly in NorCal), but kept using the washer until water bills increased enough to make it less economical than going to the laundromat again (and that sounds very NorCal not Seattle problem, so maybe you'd have better luck).
@Kyresti @IrisKalmia I can see it from here given what I think about coyoteness. Coyotehood? Coyotousity? Like yeah, I'm coyote, so are a batch of other folks, and that's okay, if that one makes sense, but this came up in conversation back at the start of May, trying to distinguish us.
Also, I have exactly no clue what generated "Kyresti" as a name; I'm not necessarily all that bright.
@Chip_Unicorn no. I don’t know the spoken language at all so my best predictors (vowel sounds) aren’t there, there are no loanwords or obvious breaks I can follow. This doesn’t fit anything i’m innately good at and would quickly become an exercise in self hate.

re: Uspol-
@Kyresti I really think this country is utterly foul some days. It's tempting to go off on a tangent, but my alternatives are what, the UK? Israel? But I mean, I look at some stuff happening in Canada, and it's hard not to believe pretty much any countries are basically extensive life support systems for parasitic rich rightwingers.
Lots of random gunk, but some drawings and cooking talk too. Obsesses about DnD and related topics. Left-leaning/profoundly frustrated politics. Black lives matter; trans rights are human rights.
