Previously, self hate helped cope with anger and despair; my whole childhood was about anger and learned hopelessness. Now my self-worth is better, but I’m still great at picking up on reasons for anger and despair and what I’m NOT good at is working with those feelings when they’re legitimate.

@onelastsketch It's a joke! Robin Hood, Captain Blood and The Sea Hawk are all Errol Flynn swashbuckler movies with Korngold soundtracks (two of them feature Rathbone as an opponent). I've seen Robin Hood and Captain Blood dozens of times, but I've only seen Sea Hawk once.

you see someone might have been at the Asian Family Food Center on Monday, and they might have thought to themselves "oh wow there's lotus leaf sticky rice, and I love lotus leaf sticky rice!" and "there's oyster mushroom, and I love making mushroom gravy!" without entirely thinking through how lotus leaf sticky rice and oyster mushrooms can go off with time. So dinner tonight is a *lot* of rice, all told.

Ah, here’s the point in the movie where Basil Rathbone falls off the stairs to lie in the surf with the incoming waves rolling over his chiseled features.

Okay next up is the “Elizabeth and Essex” score. And again I can see Williams being influenced; but he deserves credit for being able to pull on this stuff without really falling into Korngold’s patterns, which FEEL somehow very dated to the 30s-40s.

I have exactly no idea what happens in “King’s Row,” but Korngold’s music is so stirring I can only assume this is the part where they run out the guns and prepare to repel boarders. (Also wow; Williams REALLY was influenced by this score.)

Another night of falling asleep where I could snooze through the battle of Kursk next door, and then I woke up thanks to weird nightmares and was AWAKE.

in my dreams it snowed (another "wake up in bedroom not the one I have IRL") and now I don't want to drive in to work

so I wind up feeling okay about the evening, and going to sleep and soon I'm off dreaming about closing venetian blinds in a room not my own when suddenly the upstairs neighbor kid is having some sort of crying screaming meltdown, and THEN suddenly there are adults stomping around yelling and my other upstairs neighbor stomping around. A little into taking melatonin I realize I'm actively triggered and hypervigilent and yeah, no, it's not happening. One half edible later, and there's still occasional stomping.
