There's no Twitter style algorithm yet, but there is a "Discover" tab and a "Popular with Friends" tab which are thankfully not defaults, in addition to "Following." Following won't show you what friends favorited, but it will show you what they comment on. So it's not fully like Twitter, it's more like halfway between Masto and Twitter.

Okay, I have now completed today's job hunt, talked to a recruiter, and that gives me a couple of hours to chill out from the resulting routine suicidal ideation and file UI for the week, before I have to do Seder with my parents.

@frost Accounting has little fiddly bits which intersect, so you might enjoy it, definitely a less variable schedule, so I think if you can find lower-level jobs to poke at, that might work out okay.

A CPA is a Certified Public Accountant. I don't remember the sort of roles that qualify you to test for certification, but I thought you needed 2 years of experience before doing so!

another thing about job hunting this time with looking for accounting jobs more of a possibility is how many want a CPA.

This is sort of like saying you'd like to see a residency for anyone from the receptionist to the senior most doctors at a medical office, and incidentally, it's about the payrate *I* am looking for, and possibly part-time.

@anthracite Bluesky's a way larger chunk of the population, so I don't think I can as easily characterize a general trend of people there as I can for Mastodon.

I mute people because they post a lot and I simply can't handle the volume.

I unfollow people because they keep talking about stuff that I just don't have the emotional resource to deal with.

I block people because I see them as actively hostile and I don't want to offer anything they can potentially use against me.

I've blocked way more people on Bluesky than I've ever unfollowed or muted. I'm not sure I like what that says about me.
