I reiterate my experience;

average expression of prejudice comes from people not used to seeing or experiencing whatever marginalized group. Any and ALL expression of that identity is a therefore a little weird and scary, from Black hair to kissing men to full on angry backlash.

This is hopeful; most prejudice can be combated because being KINDA uncomfortable, not very uncomfortable, is part of how humans run into new stuff and adapt.

But TERFS aren't like most prejudiced people. They don't want you to tone down your Jewishness, they don't claim to love the sinner and hate the sin, they won't become tolerant once they get used to dark skin and kinky hair. It's like how the most German, Austrian and French folks out there suddenly discovered they were still Jews to the Nazis. You can never be woman enough for a TERF.

They want you DEAD, and that's all there is.

@topaz The worst thing today was my Mom complaining about fireworks, and weighing in about how DARE people question that prisons don't have air conditioning when the people therein are obviously terrible. Loss of mobility and frequent pain doesn't make her any pleasanter, and I have a moderately hard time pushing down what I'd *like* to say at times like that.

The worst parts of visits tend to be 1) having to completely shelve my personality for 2) 6-10 hours, because my parents rarely go for short visits especially 3) if I'm roped into dinner there because if there's any point my mother is going to be snappish and my dad's going to snap at my mom, it's while waiting for food prep when everyone's low on blood sugar.

Today was somehow a mere 6 hour deal with eating relatively early, so I got off real light this time.
