@thorgrit Both of them are relatively okay roles for how the dude worked; he showed up, was tall (literally the tallest actor for a while), deep voiced, and an expert fencer when needed. Playing Dracula for Hammer Films was sort of how he made rent for a while.

@thorgrit You know, I'd always parsed Strahd as Christopher Lee's take on Dracula. With more than a bit of Sir Christopher thrown in.

@Tuftears the fragment of folk song is actually kinda about that, it's this song about how this farmer clears and ploughs land, hunts animals, and then when the (much less Tolkein) elves show up, he puts up crosses all over and chases them away. I absolutely HATE IT, and wanted a scenario where the elves, forest and old gods win instead.

hate how jobs kill empathy. I have a weekend or sometimes after work, I'm surrounded by all sorts of people living their lives - what're they thinking? Are they happy? What lies ahead for the kids?

I go into work and the road's full of fucking rich assholes, the customers are rich assholes someone has decided is officially better than me, and the coworkers I talk to through Slack or email, do they even have emotions and wants I can fathom?

It's like having ice form in my soul.

I can't imagine why a Church full of Hispanics and at risk of being accurately perceived as an eager adjunct to American right winger power grabs would choose as a leader someone loudly opposed to abuse directed at Hispanics instead of playing to evangelical Protestants, can YOU?

I’m now realizing this lousy administration has already played so many fears coming true (reasonably Trump shouldn’t have won, RFK/Patel/Hegseth/etc shouldn’t have been installed, EOs shouldn’t be parsed as law etc) that it’s easy to believe any fear will come true. This stacks with how any narcissist’s control is rooted in no matter what you do or how reasonable it is, the narc will turn out idealized, lauded, prosperous, while you’re dismissed as just some crazy.

Maybe I wasn't clear enough; transphobia is state sponsored violence against civilians. There's a word for that.
