@cabbitanalytics aww crap, I recognize some of Tod's icons. I really miss that guy.

us pol -, old person bullshit

yesterday's "fun" reminds me of growing up in the 80s.

I grew up around a lot of Vietnam vets so when Reagan first bombed Libya, I thought; this is it. This is what ends up with me hauling a backpack and M-16 around another country. And it obviously didn't. Reagan's ratings soared, presumably Qaddhafi's ratings soared with his people, and months later we were doing it again. The only people to really lose were the Libyans who died and uh, us having to pay for all of this crap.

So I feel cynical of "he's going to nuke someone" - which is a bit naive of me, since he's definitely exhibited interest in doing so in the past, and like all conservatives he really gets into the idea of Punishing Bad People - and assume this whole thing has been engineered to boost ratings which might be sagging even among conservatives thanks to HIS recession, HIS inflation, HIS jackboots showing up in our airports and communities. It's either that and/or market manipulation. I know "lives mean nothing to this Administration getting what it wants" is a statement like "the sky is blue" or "water is wet" but still.

I emailed again asking my senators to support or start impeachment, but of course nothing's going to happen.

I haven't read many of the Sharpe series, I gave up after All the Weyrs of Sharpe and never got to Dieu-Empereur des Sharpes

“To serve man.”
“No wait stop! It’s actually…”
“It’s actually a cookbook?”
“No worse, it’s about playing tennis!”

Now that I’ve had more sleep the sadness and worry have given way to anger I can’t do anything about, so here’s last night’s

I mean it's not a particularly big realization that actually helping requires good intentions *and* money, and most people have only one of these. But I'm really hitting that one hard, this morning.

@erin_kitsune Erin went on HRT and it made her hair manageable...

@anthracite I mean in general, Sephardic food is worthy of whole really good cookbooks, and what Ashkenazim have going for them is mostly baked goods.

please understand this is the most devout I've been since I left for college - before then, religion wasn't really a choice - and consequently this is the first time I've really looked into what I can eat during Passover.

this morning I've come to the conclusion that "Ashkenazic" describes Jews who believe God doesn't want you to enjoy food.

Wandering down the wrong aisle in Safeway I discovered there’s a dry dog food called “One.”
