uspol, Judge Dredd

Having grown up around the concept of Judge Dredd, Mega-City One, BritCit etc, it weirds me out that "SovCit" means yet *another* iteration of nauseating little right wing assholes, instead of the big city in Russia.

Given the willing collaboration with Russian attempts to undermine American elections, though, maybe it's not so different.

today in learning how to draw vehicles, I learned that tanks is a particularly advanced form of masochism, and that I am *not* doing it for customers unless they really throw money at me.

When I was a kid, Harpo was the brother I most wanted to be, but now I like and see what I consider funny and likable in all three of them.

1) It's safe to put tupperware in a dishwasher, right? I washed 2 dozen tupperware lids today on top of everything else and I am really looking forward to living any place with a dishwasher.

2) as usual upon seeing nice enough fursuits, I want one. This makes daydreaming of working for Dark Horse or Marvel look practical by comparison.

3) my parents are on the last leg of their vacation rn, in Iceland, and that sure does bring up a batch of mixed feelings.

STAR WARS HOT TAKE

Zuckuss was actually the coolest looking bounty hunter

Cartoon (Disney) subtoot/hot takes

2) I wish The Lion King had been stylistically more of the Just Can't Wait to be King sequence, or at least have more of the gravity-defying scenery right at the end of Be Prepared. (Okay, I also wish the plot had been less elitist/racist.)

3) Despite how much I loved Atlantis (okay yeah I seem to have an undersea/Mignola/tragic thing going on) the best Disney is still Emperor's New Groove, for stylized characters, chunky backgrounds and actually funny.

Cartoon (Disney) subtoot/hot takes

1) The best part of Moana is Tamatoa's sequence. I kinda wish they'd pushed the Miyazaki story elements a little more though I don't know how and failing that, a giant undersea rave would be awesome.

1a) not Disney but I wish Song of the Sea had more underwater parts. Song was a way better Mignola/Miyazaki riff! (Although the ending is horrific; afaik watching a small child be maimed and the world get far sadder and you're supposed to think it's somehow okay.)

let Juno Reactor be in Bill and Ted Face the Music

coyote sing along hour

I keep a close watch on this heart of mine.
I walk the line.
I walk the line.
I'm already dead, I'm already dead, I'm already dead, I'm already dead,
I'm already dead, I'm already dead.

I wanna be Jackie Onassis!
I wanna wear a pair a dark sunglassis!
I wanna be Jackie O oh oh OH PLEASE DON'T DIE!

multiclassing optimistic, competent adult/weepy, anxious wreck

Today’s feature realizing learning how to draw complex vehicles will not be a one-day process.

Urge to say cranky shit, but I don't feel like I can ever talk about that issue, so I may as well shut the hell up. It's not like me talking would change anything.

uh anyway, it's , ask me questions about lewds or dinosaurs or something?

It's amazing how job reqs want "rockstars" when rock star implies

* someone who's up there because they seriously love making music rather than they're there to make rent

* the audience seriously adores them, and they make a pretty okay amount of money

And now sudden wakefulness. I'm not really sure what got set off, or what sort of stress is being processed and how, but I know what's been going on the last few hours is some sort of stress response.

Pints of Guinness Make You Strong is making me want to throw heavy shit.

This is unrelated to the nauseating little smugass fash shit YouTube has decided I want to see because CLEARLY, someone who selects stoner rock, punk, drawing and model railroad technique videos just reads as someone who sure wants to know how Churchill and Columbus were both just great.

tonight's music choices explained

Weird Al "Lucy" has kinda whiny female vocals => No Doubt, "Spiderwebs" and "Just a Girl," achingly sad vocals => Cranberries "Dreams," wordless ululating vocals at end => Audioslave "Show Me How to Live," similar instrumetal structure => RAtM, "Wake Up," the urge to throw heavy crap => Against Me, "Pro-Vision L3," "Bamboo Bones"

singing along with No Doubt means using my grandmother's accent, aleha ha shalom.

the moment that I step outside
so many reasons for me to run and hide
can't do the little things y'hold so dear
it's all those little things that y'fear

This is especially counterproductive in places where the world is, or very much appears to be, some sort of scary, exclusive, competitive place. I'm not even talking about the particularly hateful bits, here (though they did NOT HELP!), just talking about the basic went-to-not-great-public-schools part of the exercise. Imo there are literally thousands of people stumbling around with this background which is part of why things are this royally dicked in 2018.
