This writer’s biases about the Vietnam War (for instance; there’s a tiny section 2/3 through the book which mentions Australian and S Korean armor, and the larger section on PAVN armor at the very end mentions a breakthrough at Khe Sanh which he doesn’t mention in earlier accounts of armored engagement) mean I’m dubious of his “facts.” In short; this is a good visual guide to US and even PAVN materiel only, and a good pointer to other research, but essentially Americanized Dolchstoßlegende.

Re Twitter

It’s frustrating watching the sheer volume of money that could move the world to more renewable energy or clean the oceans (both theoretically good for business incidentally; I’m amazed by how capitalism somehow thinks long term continuous growth is possible without consumers) instead going to assure that we can drop n-bombs with impunity.

Okay Rage Across the Amazon is very uh… 90s White Wolf in it’s cultural sensitivity, and if I ever run a chronicle set in Brazil I’m gonna make it a LOT more Ife-Yoruba influenced.

Being outraged that "reasonable" Republicans are okay with fraudulent election claims enforced by violence is like being outraged the doughnut shop serves muffins. Believe me I'd love to be disappointed, but I've lived my entire life with what "reasonable" Republicans will do for their convenience, and you're surprised now?

living in the real world, you come to expect the equivalent of Tony Stark is just a charismatic extrovert who didn't actually build his own armor. You don't expect the equivalent of Tony Stark to be innately unlikable and actively sabotaging J.A.R.V.I.S.

gotta say "be with your parents, even if your relationship was difficult with them, when they are dying, because that will help you process your feelings about being merely a speck in the ongoing swirling vortex of existence" was not the advice I was looking for.

"Replicants are like any other machine, they're either a benefit or a hazard. If they're a benefit it's not my problem."
"May I ask you a personal question?"
"Sure."
"What's 'cock vore'?"
DECKARD suddenly has a furious coughing fit.

Rutger Hauer (improvising): I've seen things you people couldn't imagine etc etc etc

me (quoting an obscure comic in my best Harrison Ford voice): So I guess aside from breaking my fingers and killing a bunch of people he was a pretty great guy.

So for Halloween, Heidi Klum covered her body with sandtrout and became an immense omniscient human-worm hybrid, is that what I’m hearing?

Today’s been busy. Here’s last night’s ; an elf ranger uses Ghost Touch arrows to fight a grim non corporeal undead.

okay fan theory time

The Ballad of Bilbo Baggins contains the inaccurate statement "he battled a troll!" while leaving out fairly key details of The Hobbit, like the entire Battle of Five Armies or anything around Erebor. Therefore, "in world" the singer is someone theoretically familiar with Bilbo's story but who was too bored to remember less exciting like "teased a dragon alone in the dark," "provided the detail that finally slew the dragon" or "wept for Thorin after a battle which proved friendship means more than greed."

Meriadoc Brandybuck and Peregrine Took. I might have known.

I went from "The Ballad of Bilbo Baggins" to "The Battle of Evermore," the first chords of which are pretty much the same progression as "Sodomy" from Meet the Feebles, so I had to listen to that too.

who is the man who would stick his neck out for his brother man

he's Bilbo, Bilbo Baggins
he's only three feet tall

who's the cat who won't cop out when there's danger all about

he's Bilbo, Bilbo Baggins
the bravest little hobbit of them all
