Have you ever looked at GW Aeldari helmets and wondered whether the Exarchs have really developed their neck muscles over the long decades? Like I was looking at the striking scorpion exarch and thought to even move your head in that thing you’d need a neck like Henry Rollins’.

Here’s a thing;

The late great Angus McBride did paintings for now OOP Concord Publications books - all topics like barbarians, Celts, ancient warfare, etc. Essentially gorgeous pictures with text most appropriate for an interested preteen, these would have been perfect for 8-10 year old me.

But! Pages with text have b/w cropped versions of the McBride paintings so you can see how he organized values which pushes these books from really nice, to true treasures.

I’m glad I have this job now that I know people *treating* me like I’m fucking stupid does not in fact *mean* I’m fucking stupid. That bumps “self worth fuxx0red for months” to merely “daily discomfort and wanting to quit,” so I wish my coworker would finally give it a rest.

Thinking about Greek philosophers as recent generations. Socrates’ “suppose what you think about the world isn’t actually an unshakable objective reality” seems very 60s, and I’m not sure if Plato really maps to Gen X/Millenial experience, but “I’m a doggo, I live in a barrel hey! By your own definition this plucked chicken is a Real Man” feels very Zoomer somehow.

KEXP introduced me to “Eggs and Sausage in a Cadillac with Susan Michelson” which I could instantly tell was Tom Waits despite sounding younger. Looking up the song I can easily imagine older Tom doing the exact same lyrics with *completely* different instrumentals and mood. It’s weird that Tom is actually a few years younger than my parents rather than several decades older.
