Weird open question; there’s been a couple of times in my life when D&D wasn’t cool but other TTRPGs (Twilight 2000, Shadowrun, White Wolf) were the awesome things you wanted to play.

Is that just some biased perception or did everyone else get that?

This big park borders on a little strip mall, and there’s a game store! So I asked about pricing and if paint’s $4.50-$8 a pot, and non-GW miniatures start at $6ish, maybe I COULD get back into painting minis after all. Still cheaper and more portable than model airplanes.

My childhood didn’t have many bright spots but I definitely enjoyed some real privileges too. Now that I don’t feel I need to win the suffering Olympics - or even qualify- for my terrible experiences to be valid, I can acknowledge that I was luckier in some ways than kids from much better places.
