These aren’t *good* drawings but they’re *large* drawings done at the end of a long day. I have to believe that’s progress.

And yes I’m including Larry Elmore’s cover for 1e Shadowrun, and 3e Call of Cthulhu, which I consider the best main rulesbook covers ever.

Like if I were going to include TTRPG covers for “makes me want to pick up the book when I might not otherwise” there’s some awesome Angus McBride and Wayne Reynolds covers, but the winner hands down is Keith Parkinson’s cover for Adventures in the Northern Wilderness.

Actually though I have to include Forest of Doom because while technically a game cover, it did get me into the book- and it’s literally the first place I’d ever seen Iain McCaig’s art.

Some of these aren’t great books but;

Kender, Gully Dwarves and Gnomes
Weasel’s Luck
Yvgenie
Talismans of Shannara
The Sword of Shannara
The White Dragon
The Kif Strike Back
Chanur’s Homecoming
The Vanishing Tower
The Sailor on the Seas of Fate
Conan
Conan of Cimmeria (both these actually give a clue what happens in the Conan stories, which is a qualification that knocks out a lot of Frazetta paintings)

Special mention to Robert Gould’s Elric covers; something about them really grabbed me.

A little while ago a fantasy author completely dissed what sure seemed like an okay fantasy cover to me (if that’s bad so’re 95% of fantasy covers). This got me wondering which covers I’d consider really good- which turns out to mean “gets me curious about the characters and what set up the scene shown.”

I did a little poking and came up with a list probably about when I read frequently more than art. And I have to disqualify awesome art for TTRPG splat books and modules. (1/2)

“The Argonath! Long have I desired to look upon the visages of the kings of old. My forefathers.”

“That’s right lovely. So what’s THAT over there.”

“The Argonath...”

The Urinallstallen! This was the great bathroom of the dwarves!

* massive Howard Shore music *

The Shire of Sodomie, that’s what THAT is, mate! * thumpy dance music *
* shaved hobbit action *

yeah, I think I'm going to call it an early night. I want to communicate a ton of stuff, but nothing's coming out coherently, and the only reason I'm staying up is that I don't want the weekend to end.

tired; singing the Weird Al lyrics along to "Smells Like Teen Spirit"

wired; singing the original lyrics to "Smells Like Nirvana"

inspired; turning the Weird Al mix CD off after "Smells Like Nirvana," and singing all of Nevermind from memory until at least "Breed."

song lyrics, poop tooting

Ohhh we’re almost there
Whoooaaa living derriere
Grab my ass and we’ll make it I swear
Whooaaa living derrière

Polycules, or “polikles” in the original Greek myths

Apparently this channel is playing all songs Weird Al covered.

If you want substitution I won’t put up a fight,
But you really can’t lose with the rye or the kaiser!

song lyrics

I’m sick of Fred and Ethel always coming over here,
Cause Freddy stole our pretzel sticks and then he spills his beer,
Why don’t you serve your casserole and make them disappear, Lucy?

So I was thinking; most wildcats are adept jumpers and climbers where canids are more cursorial. I bet this plays out in cat territory size not really changing as much in more montane/forested areas where solitary canine territory size can vary more wildly, and possibly plays into canines being more social (more individuals can hold a larger territory and that increases chance of successful dispersion or extrogeny).

1) “this sounds incredibly 80s” she thought to herself a few moments before realizing she hadn’t heard “In Your Wildest Dreams” since the 80s.

2) I was a very good dog and did not key this nice fundie’s anti-choice decorated car.

3) driving south wanting something. What I don’t know. A friend was going to see Black Panther but honestly I’m not in a movie mood. Like, The Godfather could be showing on the big screen and I’d be “ehh not in a movie mood.”

weird social paranoia and stuff. I think I'm going to try getting more sleep.
