Wanting to participate in a violent Marxist revolution this morning has nothing to do with my boss piling on the work from his comfy home in Vancouver. Not at all!

A weird personal thing is I liked both The Hobbit and The Silmarillion more than LotR. Hobbit is unashamedly a children’s story, it’s not trying to be epic but Silmarillion is straight up HUGE mythology. I feel like they play more to JRRT’s strengths (academic but also a kind parent). I also feel like Hobbit better communicates that good people can set up terrible things, rather than absolute monsters, a flip side to how anyone can be a hero.

who would win

* falling over into bed after a long, emotionally difficult day as as part of an eventful weekend, actually feeling very wanted and postorgasmic and having taken a little NyQuil OR

* staying up late b/c part of my brain thinks staying up late avoids having to haul into day job.

okay, the way a cold leftover slice of vegan pizza was the best thing EVER was my cue to eat. I cooked up some zucchini and I'm feeling a lot better now.

Today as it’s topical, I am thinking about MLK in the context of how he and his protests *didn’t* resolve everything. An exceptionally smart charismatic guy backed up by people being exceptionally brave, in front of a media willing to give them air time as part of a steady increase in public consciousness since the 40s (unlike what I was told as a kid) only resolved *some* of this country’s problems with systemic racism, that’s how bad it was and is.

In my dream a movie claimed they were intentionally capitalizing on “Queer coded villain” but it was basically black and white stormtrooper armor with interesting asymmetry. So I drew a version which was purple, pink, and carried a Hitachi magic wand shaped blaster.
