gotta say it's real hard to come up with any enthusiasm for July 4th given the recent big "fuck you yid, we don't want you here in our Christian nation (but we want your money/vote/body in uniform)" vibes.

#drawings today were about trying to plan out more dramatic lighting and I feel kinda happy about that. Two characters (vengeance oath paladin, dwarf wizard) and a cleric desperately trying to heal a fighter companion, in a tomb, while threatened by a big ogre/goblin type.

gotta remember that the definition of allyship is that sometimes my allies WILL piss me the fuck off, but what we theoretically all want is bigger and more important than me needing to tell them to fuck themselves.

Reading an old Silent Strider tribebook on the pot I find myself inadvertently cranky about some of the book's lore, enough to entrench feelings that Forsaken got tribes rooted in outlook more right than Apocalypse's tribes rooted in ethnicity. I didn't know I had a "cranky Egyptologist" side but apparently I do.

A regret;

My ex had a cat who really, REALLY liked chicken. Like, recognized the word, you could not cook chicken without her yelling at you to give her some.

My ex and I got a cornish game hen and saved it for some special occasion. We were split between "Pepper will have a heart attack over A WHOLE CHICKEN JUST FOR ME" or "I don't know what this is, give me chicken, I can smell it. Smell. Give."

But she was old, and her vision went before she passed away and we never got to try this out.

Part of what really fucked me up in childhood was simply the lack of time and space to explore myself. I went from my parents' home to school and back and if I were really lucky I'd get enough money to go in to Lennox Square or something. Being "stuck, trapped and treading water" isn't a good feeling for someone who nearly died while stuck, trapped and treading water.

I mean, all jobs press "you are stuck, trapped and treading water," and it's especially bad with this job's expectation I'll be there daily basically, but the added expectation that I will dump in a batch of OT at any moment, and Friday it's basically the default, really hits those buttons.

It definitely sets me up for living more often in a state of irritability which I don't like.
