So I just suggested that since The Monster Mash is ABOUT the Mash but doesn’t actually tell you it IS the Mash, the titular song actually is a peppier version of something that would’ve been played all over weddings and stuff in Romania, enough that a vampire would know it as the Transylvanian Twist. thinking about a thing spotted on birdsite about autistics, and communication;

I've noticed how easy it is to miscommunicate before. Now I'm realizing that since communication is influenced by an infinite combination of cultural backgrounds and personal development, by definition you're going to completely fail to get the idea across to people. I don't think I'm autistic, but definitely understand having limited enough emotional resources to learn to communicate in one way/limited ways and therefore feeling shattered when I run into the inevitable misunderstanding.

If a savvy allistic grasps adapting your communication style, it's also common to assume someone who doesn't understand is stupid/willfully not getting it. And I can see this leading to disaster both for autistic people and in my own life.

On the last little bit of the trip home, I figured out at least some of why a real specific type of discourse *really really bothered me*. I feel better having that understanding now.
