rant, MCU movies not doin' it for me
My lack of interest in MCU movies is this weird combination of things. Ironically growing up as a nerdy misfit means I bristle at "this is OBVIOUSLY something you LOVE and you're STOKED FOR IT" even when it's say, movies about Doctor Strange or TV shows about Star Wars. I feel like the OBVIOUSLY something you LOVE and you're STOKED FOR IT" for every single movie, every single year, burned me out faster than just more stories with familiar characters. The big one of course is still, I just like comics more as a medium. You pick up a comic book and for $1-5 you have cartoony looking superheroics (unless we're talking about say, Simone Bianchi art) you can read on the bus or during lunch, and flip back through and copy art to learn from it, that's way better imho than $8-$16 and planning 3 hours of your day, some of which is trailers you don't care about, with really GOOD cinematography which won't stick in your mind long enough for you to sketch it.

RAtM; Politricks who rob and hold down your zone
or those who give the thieves the key to their home
the pig who's free to murder one shucklack
or survivors who make a move and murder one back!

Because once I strip out the self hate, which really put a different narrative to Terrible Shit Which Happens to Me, I’m still left with Terrible Shit Happening. And since that Terrible Shit Happens for similar reasons - someone wants what they want, and they don’t know, possibly can’t notice (eg my folks), or know and don’t care that this makes me miserable - it’s real hard to see this as different Terrible Shit, or remember that previous Terrible Shit came to an end.
The world is bigger, more inclusive and more additive than I think, but part of why I keep my negative assumptions is that I don’t have emotional resources for more optimism (especially faced with the terrifying inevitably that eventually optimism is going to be proved wrong), and that’s a little of self fulfilling prophecy since the more negativity I feel, the less emotional wherewithal I have to deal with difficult situations as they arise in the here and now.
The old archmage always hated adventurers; the way they'd talk over him while he tried to give them important plot points at an inn, or how they'd always jack up the price for protecting an orphanage from extraplanar cannibals, that sort of thing. So he built a fabled tomb in the middle of lizardfolk controlled swamp, solidly full of death traps, purely out of spite, and his actual body rests peacefully beneath a simple stone in a flower bed he planted, far from anywhere remotely adventurous.

you might even like being together

separated since not everyone likes furry art. Black backed jackal #drawing, inter/dual sexed.

#drawing listening to Garmarna, a howe-dweller tackles a would be looter. You can kinda tell which part of The Northman I enjoyed like, eight times more than the rest of the movie.
Lots of random gunk, but some drawings and cooking talk too. Obsesses about DnD and related topics. Left-leaning/profoundly frustrated politics. Black lives matter; trans rights are human rights.
