So I was thinking about the usual racist criticism of casting Black elves etc, and how as well as various dark skinned people in premodern Europe, long ago there were indigenous European PoC, like Dorians or dark skinned Scandinavians. People don’t completely disappear, are some of us their descendants? And given the age of humanity, what are chances we’re carrying around genes from ethnicities that don’t exist any more, and that some of us are connected by them despite superficial differences?
