the Elon Musk future, humanoid robots

so you're telling me the robot uprising which wipes out humanity is actually gonna be robots blowing up, suddenly bursting into flames, or rolling over people *unintentionally*?

got salads from Trader Joe's and impulse bought asparagus, pears, bacon, goat brie, and fennel. Then I went home and roasted fennel, cooked up spiced potatoes and cooked bacon/sliced and cored pears to go with the brie.

man, I miss Santa Cruz sometimes

Cranky opinion about trans stuff and capitalism

I’m starting to feel like most of trans identity is determined from within, on a personal level, it’s not a tidy neat marketing gimmick. Aside from trans flags, the only thing that’s a sure fire sale to trans people is uh… Actual trans actors and actresses playing trans characters, or Queer stories which aren’t tragedies but someone’s trans cause it happens sometimes, and that might lose nice cis dollars so we can’t have that of course.

A rule of cool TTRPG. You gain 1-3 Awesome points for doing cool stuff, and use them like Karma in Shadowrun, as experience or burn immediately to *survive* doing cool stuff. I figure like WEG Star Wars you split actions but spend Awesome to double your dice pool. Mere success isn’t enough; this is a game about one liners right before explosions and backflips in pleather while firing twin mini Uzis. And, if you want to appeal the GM award of Awesome, ask your group “was that cool or what?”

Also today I hit the point of Gideon the Ninth where suddenly from being an Agatha Christie and Alexandre Dumas Write a Mystery Set in WH40K, instead Ianthe is Testsuo from “Akira.” The style change was notably jarring.

Journaling

What got me here was thinking also that how I’m introduced to really uncomfortable inevitable stuff makes a difference, once familiar or if presented in a non judgmental fashion some though not all of the sting goes away.

Journaling

Then I thought; all sorts of negative stuff is pretty much inevitable. I am going to die; I am going to live while people I love die; I am going to lose friends, get sick, get stuck in traffic, etc etc. None of these are comfortable and they really shouldn’t be comfortable.

Accepting this would be a way past hypervigilance. But hypervigilance is looking for ways to dodge or parry instead of remise; that requires longer term thinking, something PTSD physically makes me bad at.

heavily armored troll standard bearer. Very handy for an evil army on the move.

Thought; to be loved is the greatest thing in the world. The second greatest is probably being unhurried.

Herr Mannelig, only he accepts the troll woman’s offer and his immense half troll brood rule for decades afterwards from their oaken throne in Birka, wielding twin Dane-axes in battle.

Being this old, I've seen things and felt truly deeply in this historical context which wouldn't be emotionally significant to a lot of my younger friends and what's I guess normal is that they weren't especially more noteworthy than anyone else's childhood.

Here's why the US might never have a Gen X president!

* tiny tiny generation

* the alternative to Desantis is Democrats who largely resemble top echelons of Soviet leadership during the early 80s

* limited appeal of speeches which reference Star Wars, Monty Python and The Crow

oh no, just browsing furry art I found a picture of someone's fox character in a stillsuit and so now it's time for more Duneposting.

do not get too close. as he approaches the sand will engulf you. wait till the head of the worm passes then go, quickly.

Image, fantasy humanoids, overt violence/blood

today, kind of a Scouring of the Shire sort of deal. Two halflings rush past where a third is parrying a human sized opponent’s weapon and stabbing with her off hand.

coyote sing along hour, The Police, capitalism

and they're only gonna change this place
by killing everybody in the human race
and they would kill me for a cigarette
but I don't even want to die just yet.

Sooooo not interested in talking to my folks tonight or seeing them this weekend. Not after last weekend.

AI "art" could potentially be sold as a cool TTRPG tool - generate not especially perfect or salable portraits, but that's okay, you're just showing players what the NPCs look like. Yes, that replaces stuff I've been commissioned to do in the past and it makes me pucker.

This unsurprisingly is completely lost in all the whole I AM A MASTER ARTIST FOR FEEDING WORDS INTO THIS PROGRAM WAY OF THE FUTURE CHEAP OUT ON HIRING AN ACTUAL PERSON.

uspol rant

y'know, out of all the people I disagree with, the leftists usually come across as 9 parts usually benign or even enlightened sounding words to 1 part action of any sort, and about the worst part is some persistent antisemitism

which is honestly pretty benign by comparison to how conservatives are 5 parts words usually about fucking with someone else's survival or liberty, to 5 parts action, when the action in question is
* voting willingly for something which directly threatens others' survival and liberty
* throwing money at politicians and churches which directly threaten others' survival and liberty
* straight up trying to kill or repress others

so you can kinda see where my bias lies

Images, fantasy creatures, eye contact

Some far rougher from last Friday, it’s been a sparse week. Dwarves versus a dragon toad; a half orc cleric magically binds a non corporeal undead; centaur and armored human women fighters. (Again, the face paint on the centaur is Elmore inspired. He kinda left a big impression.)
