This isn’t a particularly depressive spiral day, but it’s still a “if I could simply stop existing I would” sort of day. That’s not possible, so gonna see if the Food Trailer of the Unusually Large Chicken Katsu is open for lunch. They were open when I left work last night but they’d been closed during lunch break the last couple of weeks so this is probably too optimistic. Seriously last time I went I got two meals plus enough rice to use for fried rice later.

Food, hunting, meat
Not really my story but.
My mammalogy professor gave us pointers on skinning animals while doing so, including; use cornmeal instead of sawdust if you’re planning to eat it.
Turns out he’d eaten an ocelot (didn’t recommend it).
He and some other then grad students did a big trancept across South America, pooling money and effort to work on several theses. To further cover expenses they hunted animals for study skins. To further save money they ate everything they hunted.
It took me ages to learn that privilege is very hard to spot in part because it makes things *easier*, not easy. Being poor instead of dirt poor, having to hide your ethnicity, queerness or disability rather than being unable to avoid any flak you might take for it, waiting for an elevator being an annoyance rather than a necessity.
This stacks badly with a human tendency towards dualisms, and baggage from seeing suffering as virtuous (things which were bad but not miserable get discounted).

covid stuff, pissed the hell off at some nauseating rich fash stoolie
then they said "I would. COVID is only killing about as many people as the flu used to, at a rate of about 50K/year in the US, and just as most of the people who used to die of the flu would likely have died of something else anyway, most of the people who die of COVID have other life-threatening conditions. All of these are characteristics of an endemic disease, not a pandemic."
so then I said ""Oh get bent." and left that part of the MU*

"I want you should tell me about the hash bars."
"I should know from hash bars?"
"Hash is legal there, nebbech?"
"100% legal, but they don't want that you should go into a coffee shop, order a nice danish and start puffing away. They want that you should smoke in y'home or certain designated places."

I'm fairly sure Tom Waits is one of the few famous people who got LESS mellow after marriage.
Prior to 1980 his music is all "it's another lonely Saturday and the piano is turning the late afternoon the color of whiskey" and after 1980 there's still nostalgia but now it's mixed with "they found the bodies piled behind the furnace in the basement."

Lots of random gunk, but some drawings and cooking talk too. Obsesses about DnD and related topics. Left-leaning/profoundly frustrated politics. Black lives matter; trans rights are human rights.
