of course, I don't need to worry about how I'm going to get myself off Twitter (closer to quitting caffeine than quitting cigarettes) if Twitter simply breaks beyond all comprehension.

This probably isn't a surprise to anyone but Twitter is a lot more pleasant on desktop without the huge volume of ads to block.

I think because Twitter's selection of ads is less targeted than YouTube, and more like the sort of folks you'd *think* would advertise on Twitter, more ads are stuff that actively pisses me off (cryptocurrency, stock and financial investment, growing my brand, right wing news takes, Christians) and less stuff that simply doesn't interest me (I'm not a market for car stuff, pet toys, or house paint). The whole experience feels way more negative, that the world exists for and I'm supposed to love shit which isn't my personality, friends or interests.

Trying to turn this into "stepping back to using Twitter only on desktop as a way of getting my leftist Queer Heeb ass off the fucking platform."

Something I really like about furry fandom is that we started as people drawing (horny) cartoons, and as the fandom grew suddenly became also people painting (sometimes horny) wildlife art, and (only rarely horny) fine art. When I worked for a small business which sold mostly diesel and various lubricants, I got exposed to a maybe actual centrist? POV; without an alternative to move TO, trying to push people away from old (in this case literally) toxic system just wound up being cruel. I saw a much further right POV which had some legit points.
