okay, I should NOT listen to "Sweet Transvestite" in public where I can't immediately sing along/vamp along to it

re bad movies, rule of cool, some caps

*sometime around 2000, in an office in LA*

"What if we rebooted 'Them'?"
"Pfft. Modern audiences are gonna yawn at giant ants."
"Okay, how about characters from 'Dracula' as vampire hunters?"
"Quincy Morris? Jonathan Harker and Mina as a wisecracking husband and wife team?"
"Abraham Van Helsing this grimy young dude."
"Okay, but wasn't van Helsing kinda stodgy?"
"And he has whirring knives and a repeater crossbow and a sunlight grenade, and a DARK SECRET PAST shared with Dracula himself!"
"Almost."
"And they go to Transylvania and meet all the Universal monsters who aren't The Mummy!"
"Needs something to give it that ZING, you know?"
"And at the end he turns into a WEREWOLF! and fights Dracula INSIDE FRANKENSTEIN'S LABORATORY!"
"Yeah?"
*bounces up and down* "WHICH IS IN A HUGE CASTLE IN A POCKET DIMENSION!"

* pulls out huge rubber stamp which says GREENLIT and slams it down *

the urge to parry 5, cut to 3 and disengage during the unusually swashbuckling bits of the "Van Helsing" soundtrack

followed not too long afterwards by the urge to bellow I AM THE LAW!

Alan Silvestri be this way sometimes.

the literally best thing about Flash Gordon is how Max von Sydow, an actor who was in legitimately some of the darkest, most serious movies ever, plays Ming, who's basically Frankenfurter

oh yeah the "Inside the Bong" track from Flash Gordon

again I love how The (70s) Hobbit soundtrack is this hippy dippy lovefest "sing tra la la ley we live in like the valley" and then you get to the goblins and they're all "THUMBSCREWS! OH YEAAAAAH!"

I can't believe I'd have to pay to rent Red Sonya. They should be paying me to watch it!

I SUCK compared to artistic inspirations like Iain McCaig, Terryl Whitlatch, Claire Wendling and the late great Kim Jung-Gi. This is sort of like saying I breathe air, though.

upstairs neighbor is having a stompy night, so putting on Rite of Spring so the stomping doesn't sound out of place

reused joke for the night

wow, this live Hendrix track sounds really different without the bubbling noises and giggling like I'm used to

the down side to really getting into Hendrix while stressed is man he's making me want cigs

Actually gonna link tonight's discovery; Hendrix did a cover of "Hound Dog" and it bangs.

something AWESOME about Seattle nobody tells you so I will; hopefuly not violating code or something.

We have awesome public radio stations! KEXP obvs. C89.5 is good for thumpy dance tracks. And there's KNKX, the jazz and blues station.

During rush hour they play NPR news, and Saturday mornings is a quiz show, but Saturday evenings are an all blues show, it's pretty much always been awesome. Late evenings in the dark and rain while trying to chill out is basically what the genre's made for.

ahem

boiling heat
summer stench
'neath the black the sky looks dead
call my name through the cream and I'll hear you scream again
THUMP THUMP THUMP
Black Hole Sun, won't you come
and wash away the rain?
Black Hole Sun, won't you come,
won't you come?

Blacksad/Dark City fanfic

thinking about deleting my Bluesky acct.
