I really need to get an entrenching tool, a medium sized axe, a whetstone and stropping putty, and some gun oil as sealant. That plus the k-bar ought to be a nice little kit to keep in the car, not that I actually go camping or have a clue what I’m doing.

Called senators and left messages again. Used the phrase “fucking regressive bigot” to describe the federal judge nominee I wanted them to oppose, I can remember when I would never do that. Part of me thinks it doesn’t matter as I’m likely to die in a hate crime, a camp or a severe heat wave anyway.

I’m a crummy stoner the same way I’m a crummy gamer. Pass the pipe or plop me in front of Dark Souls and I’ll be giggling at cornbread or playing for hours. But I usually am too tired or distracted to seek either out.

There’s a dispensary literally down the street from my favorite game store and I’ve never been inside; I keep really wanting to get to Game Kastle or parts further south.

Maybe I should stop in tomorrow? I figure a weed store should be pretty empty on 4/21.

Bus is hella crowded this morning. Listening to the Beatles, trying not to stew in my own resentment, mentally turning over having spent this week re-realizing stuff I figured out in therapy last year; I figure this is more process, emotionally internalizing that realization. Can talk more if you’re interested.

I really want to just draw, or watch Rampage, which has giant monsters. Giant monsters are always a plus.

I really don't want to go to bed yet, especially because the lack of ventilation at work is *terrible* if I'm low on sleep.

So 1) I think that might be a good way to go for D&D wargs - a shorter more easily humanized muzzle and more vaguely hyena appearance. And

2) literally only one hyenid made it to North America, a “running hyena” (there used to be three hyena clades, where one was a lighter built running type). If the local wolves were all big bone-crunchers that might explain why the local hyena was one of the more gracile types rather than a competitor.

Oh HEY here’s something cool;

Canines first cropped up in North America- either C. leptophagus or Eucyon davisi. At some point C. dirus evolved as a heavier larger American form. By this time recognizable C. lupus wolves had evolved in Eurasia and crossed back over into the Americas. These were “Beringian wolves” - they had shorter muzzles with thicker teeth than modern wolves and the wear pattern on those teeth suggests cracking bones.

Okay I’m depressed and if I go home with a migraine I’m totally skipping tomorrow.
